  • The PHPNW call for papers is now closed!! We’d like to send a huge thankyou to everyone who submitted talks, the response has been absolutely phenomenal. After we’ve had a chance to make some decisions, we’ll be contacting speakers by email hopefully later in the week.

  • We’re pleased to announce that we have confirmed one of the keynote speakers for the PHP North West event – Derick Rethans will be giving his KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) talk. Derick is a long-time core contributor to PHP and an active speaker at conferences. He lives in Norway, works for eZ Systems and is the creator of Xdebug.

  • Today PHP North West featured on the O’Reilly GMT blog, with an article and video about the PHP North West conference in November.

This follows previous coverage on phpdeveloper.org, zend devzone, and of course a lot of personal blogs as well – it looks like others are as excited as we are 🙂

  • Several people have been asking how they can help out with the conference, a massive thank you for the offers!

With that in mind, here are some simple ways you may be able to assist. In no particular order:

    • Join in the Google Group phpnw, follow us on twitter, facebook, LinkedIn etc.
    • Get along to the monthly meetings before and after the conference
      • Volunteer to have an informal speaking slot
    • Use one of the logos to link to this site from yours
    • Blog about us (using phpnw08 as the tag), what you’re hoping for from the event, what it means to have this happening in your region, experiences from the meetings etc.
    • Get along to the conference, book your tickets as soon as we release them 🙂
    • Answer the call for papers
    • Consider sponsoring the event

I’m sure the closer we get, there will be more specific requests such as help on the day – looking after speakers & keeping them aware of their slots, runners between venue areas, set up, set down etc.

Any other offers also welcome 🙂
