Framework shootout

Friday, October 1st, 2010

Chairman : Marcus Deglos

Date : Saturday 9th October

Have you looked at how we promoted this “last session” of the day?

Sounds like it will be more of a “round” than a session!!

Which of the experts will gain the award for their “framework”?

We have a number of “experts” who will be joining us in the debate for this top accolade.

Rob Allen, David Zuelke, Derick Rethans and  Sam de Freysinnet will be joining us along with Marcus Deglos in the chair in what we are sure will be a very “lively debate”.

Already we have Agavi, Kohana,  Zend and  eZ Components in the frame! Some may say what about “Drupal” and others?

But what’s a “Framework” and what isn’t?  I am sure we all have our opinions but who is right and which is best?

Should be an interesting end to the day and the debate will be “opened up to the floor” so come and have your say too! Use #phpnwshootout as the twitter hashtag to submit questions or keep up with proceedings.

I am sure the discussion will go on into the evening “activities” not to mention the twitter activity over the following days!!

Hope you can make it!

KEYNOTE SESSION: Coaching Development Teams

Keynote Speaker : Lorna Mitchell

Date : Saturday 9th October

Lorna will start with an old Chinese proverb which rather than being just a “fishy” story has a lot of truth attached to it!. She will go on to say that this principle is true of other situations in life!

With teams of developers we often add to their numbers to fill the shortages in team skills or improve our production performance. This can be a very expensive process not to mention time consuming. Lorna will ask the question is this always necessary? In this first session she will look at ways to enable your existing staff to improve their performance, by combining their knowledge, skill sets and processes.

Lorna will demonstrate how in practical ways we can enable our present work force to improve, become more efficient and sustainable from within the established group!  If you are a leader in the industry, or are looking to attain a leadership role then you can can be sure that you will gain some new insights from this Keynote session.

Hope to see you there!
